The Ultimate 2026 Easter Guide: Love of Luverne

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that holidays run a whole lot smoother with a little prep – and Easter is no exception. Between pulling together Easter baskets, prepping meals that feel both special and comforting, and making space for the traditions we’ve come to love (plus a few new ones!), there’s a certain rhythm to the week that just feels like home.

As I’ve been getting things in order for our own Easter weekend – family arriving Thursday evening and staying through Sunday – I pulled together a guide to help make things a little less hectic and a lot more intentional. From what we’re cooking and how we’re dividing up snacks (yes, that matters), to how we’re filling baskets and creating a few memory-making moments, consider this your gentle nudge to plan ahead.

Because when the home is humming, the table is set, and the chocolate is hidden just right – Easter magic has a chance to unfold in the most beautiful way.

Easter Weekend Meal Prep

No one wants to be stuck in the kitchen when the family is enjoying cocktails and a cheese plate in the other room . I’ve planned a menu that keeps things simple but elevated, featuring make-ahead casseroles, a beautiful spring salad, and a few sweet treats that can be pulled together in advance.

Glazed Ham
A holiday classic that never disappoints. We’re serving a spiral-cut ham with my mom’s special signature glaze. We all laugh every year at the size of ham my mom brings along with her over state lines – with enough to feed 10 people when there are only 5 of us that eat ham at the table. It fills the whole house with that nostalgic, cozy scent – basically a welcome sign in roast form.

Herb-Roasted Whole Chicken
For those who aren’t on Team Ham (we see you!), a slow-roasted whole chicken with garlic, rosemary, thyme, and lemon makes a beautiful centerpiece. Plus, leftovers turn into the best chicken sandwiches for Monday lunch.

Au Gratin Carrots
Think scalloped potatoes – but with sweet carrots and a creamy cheese sauce. These bake up bubbly and golden. A surprising hit every single year.

Baked Potatoes
Simple, satisfying, and always a crowd-pleaser. Need we say more?

Soft Dinner Rolls
Buttery, pull-apart rolls – warmed just before serving – are essential. We are serving ours with whipped butter and flaky sea salt on the side. I am trying a homemade recipe from my sourdough starter this year, but honestly, store-bought rolls work just fine with the right presentation.

Cranberry Salad
This cranberry salad is a sweet-tart mix of greens, walnuts, dried cranberries, and just a hint of orange. It’s light, refreshing, and unexpectedly delightful next to the richer dishes.

Easter Basket Ideas

Let’s be honest – Easter baskets are half the fun. I’m sharing what’s going into ours this year (a little silly a little practical, and yes, plenty of chocolate). Think: small-batch goodies, simple toys, a book, and a few treasures I found overseas in Vienna that make it feel extra personal. And no shame if you raid the basket chocolate later. I do too.

Easter Decor That Feels Like Home

When it comes to decorating for Easter, I lean into softness – nothing too flashy, just timeless textures and subtle nods to spring. Think ceramic bunnies tucked onto built-in shelves, vintage milk glass filled with pastel eggs, and a linen table runner that’s seen many a holiday. A few well-placed florals (fresh or faux – no shame in either!) go a long way, and I’m always pulling from what I already have: baskets, candlesticks, and even old ribbon that somehow looks better each year.

This season, I also added a few thrifted treasures that instantly brought warmth to the space – like an old wicker duck and a delicate ceramic bunny tray that feels like it came straight from a grandmother’s hutch.

Family Traditions We Treasure

Growing up, most of my childhood was spent with my cousins running around our grandparents house and begging our parents for playdates after family gatherings. I am so nostalgic for this time in my life, and also so thankful for a family that taught me the importance of family.

With nostalgia, usually comes the deep desire to hang onto traditions that fill my memories. While sometimes those traditions will change (like my grandmother and my dad always falling asleep during Easter church service) some we try to keep the same. Including big brunches, Easter baskets, and egg hunts.

However you celebrate – whether it’s with a table full of home-cooked favorites, baskets brimming with thoughtful little treasures, or a tradition that’s been passed down for generations – I hope this guide helps you feel just a little more prepared and a whole lot more inspired.

I’d love to hear how your family celebrates Easter! Share your favorite recipes, sweet traditions, or a photo of your beautifully prepped baskets in the comments or tag me on Instagram – I truly enjoy seeing how each of you brings love and intention into your home.

And if you’re looking for any of the items mentioned in this post – from kitchen tools to Easter basket goodies – you can find them all on my Shop with Us page. Every piece is thoughtfully selected to help you create a home that feels warm, welcoming, and full of joy.
